Great Staple Tor
One of Dartmoor's most photographed spots
The dramatic nature of Great Staple Tor has made it one of the moor’s most popular spots for photographers and walkers. It’s also relatively easy to access, just north west of Merrivale and with plenty of places to park nearby.
The tor is a mass of granite stacks and outcrops, with an impressive variety of shapes and height to the rock formations. The tor can be taken in as part of a circular walk with Cox Tor and Roos Tor, while it offers great views of Roos Tor, White Tor and Great Links Tor in the north, Great Mis Tor in the north east and to the south east, North Hessary Tor and Foggintor Quarry. Pew Tor and the Tamar Valley AONB are visible in the south.
