There’s plenty to see and do over on the east side of Dartmoor; take time to visit Bovey Tracey, and take a relaxed walk through the stunning Teign Valley, explore Tottiford, Kennick and Trenchford Reservoirs, enjoy some beautiful, shaded woodland strolls at Fingle Woods

The enchanting town of Chagford has plenty of historic buildings, independent shops and great places to eat. It’s also a local hub for arts, with a renowned art group and festivals for film and literature. It’s also only a short distance from the stunning Fernworthy Reservoir, with its well-marked walks and easy parking.

For what appears to be a sleepy Dartmoor town, Moretonhampstead always has plenty going on; whether it’s the Moreton Music Day, carnival week, or the town’s flag festival, you can usually find something to keep you busy during a visit!

Ashburton is a must for foodies, with artisan bakers, delis, great places to eat and its annual food festival every September. Newton Abbot’s numerous markets are perfect for shoppers, as well as its many independent shops.

To the east of the national park is Exeter, world renowned for its beautiful open spaces, fantastic high street and historic buildings, making Devon’s capital city perfect for a day of sightseeing, shopping and great food.
