Top Ten Trick or Treats!

Top Ten Trick or Treat ideas to get you thinking about what to do with the family over the next couple of weeks! Have a fabulous time!

1. Tamar Trails Half Term Activities

Half Term Fun at the Tamar Trails. 21st to 29th October.
We’re open every day for Tree Surfing activities plus archery and bike hire.

AND Halloween activities all week.

A fun trail through the woods for children to follow spooky clues and win a yummy treat from the Beech Cafe. £1 per child

Spooky themed craft sessions all week with the Tavistock Scrap Store. £1 per child
Halloween on 31st October – book a session of after dark Tree Surfing on the Junior course or join in the fancy dress fun run and games.

2. Pennywell- Jollyween

October Half Term Fun at Pennywell Farm Toursist Attraction in Devon is all treats and no tricks this October Half Term!

All the Pennywell animals will be waiting for their last cuddle of the season and the world famous Pennywell miniature piglets will be looking forward to piggy cuddles every day.

3. Halloween at Tree Surfers

Book the kids onto Halloween in the Trees!
Let them dress up in their best Halloween outfits and bring them along for an after dark session on Tree Surfers Junior.

The Junior Ropes Course will be decorated with lights, lanterns and pumpkins. The Beech Cafe will be serving Halloween treats into the evening.

4. Devon Guild of Craftsmen – Dead on Arrival Exhibition

Showing national and international artist/makers whose practice involves the use of ethically-sourced, human or animal remains.

Work includes jewellery, sculpture, textiles, taxidermy and photography, alongside historical artefacts lent by Plymouth Council Arts and Heritage, illustrating how artists are influenced by materials historically used to decorate and adorn.

5. Burrator Discovery Centre – Spooktacular Evening

There will be a number of traditional Halloween activities plus night walk, pumpkin carving and spooky stories. Costumes encouraged, but not compulsory.

6. Burrator Discovery Centre – Lets Go Letterboxing!

Come and try our Letterboxing Challenge as part of our monthly family wildlife watch sessions. Includes a short walk with activities en route, followed by hot chocolate and biscuits. There is a free letterboxing exhibition in the Discovery Centre today.

7. Devon Guild – Make Marvellous Mementos

Free creative fun for the whole family this half-term. Activities are inspired by Mexican Day of the Dead, All Souls traditions and the Guild’s current ‘Dead on Arrival’ exhibition.

Learn about decorative customs for remembrance and make marvellous festive mementos to adorn our making space and take home: flower garlands, skulls, bunting and funky masks. Materials provided. Activities are supervised by qualified staff. All ages welcome. Children under 12 yrs accompanied by an adult please.

8. Dartmoor’s Daughter – Fungal Foray

Enter into the world of fungi with Dartmoor’s Daughter and Devon’s top mycologist Dr Christian Taylor. You will learn how to identify edible and other fungi and find out all about this marvellous kingdom of nature. And for a lunchtime treat, we will fry up any delicious mushrooms we find to accompany our lunch.

Dartmoor’s Daughter is partnering with Steward Community Woodland and Dr Christian Taylor to bring you this fascinating day of wonder and learning.

9. South Devon Railway

Half-Term Treat With ‘Kids For A Quid’ Travel On The South Devon Railway, And You Can Even Use Old Pound Coins Too!

From Saturday October 21st to Friday 27th, all children (aged three to 15) will be able travel on the trains between Buckfastleigh and Totnes and return, or as many trips as they like, for just £1, as long as they come with a grown-up too, of course! Under three’s travel free anyway.

10. Hanna’s at Seale-Hayne

Hannahs will be celebrating Halloween at Seale-Hayne in their usual spooky way. Hannahs’ ever popular Halloween Spooktacular will be taking take place on Friday 27 October from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Throughout half-term week (Friday 21-Tuesday 31 October) Hannahs will also be hosting a Haunted Halloween Half-Term with plenty of fun and spooky activities throughout the week.
