This year, Dartmoor based self-catering holiday letting agency Helpful Holidays invited local schools to enter a competition to design their Christmas card.
After receiving hundreds of entries, the winner was Manna Hine of Chagford Primary School for her traditional Christmas scene. This beautiful design will be printed and sent to the agency’s property owners, suppliers and contacts.
In exchange for taking on the challenge, the schools involved are being given £100 worth of National book tokens, whilst Manna will be awarded a £30 gift voucher to buy a prize of her choosing, as well as some cards of her own design.
Judging the competition was locally based artist Steve Dooley who said “All the entries were so charming, thoughtful, creative and well executed. Everyone deserves praise for these wonderful creations. Judging this competition was a joy!”
James Webb, Operations Manager at Helpful Holidays says “We are so excited to have run this fun community competition. It was a wonderful opportunity for local children to channel their inner artist, and design something beautiful in time for the festive season. We hope that this was enjoyable for all participants… and of course, it was a great privilege to have superb local artist Steve Dooley involved!”
You can see all the beautiful Christmas card designs in the Helpful Holiday office window in Chagford. Visit the Chagford late night shopping event on Thursday 2nd, 9th and 16th December (6-8pm) and spot your child’s entry. Enjoy a mince pie (or two!) and enter our Christmas hamper competition – we hope to see you there.
