There’s so much to do and enjoy on Dartmoor all throughout the winter months, when that nip in the air and chance of snow covering the tors and slopes on the open moorland, makes heading out for a family walk just that bit more exhilarating.

Once you get here, you can start your day at one of the Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centres, where you will find a huge range of maps, guide books, and leaflets to browse through.
The joy of a bracing walk with the family or the dogs, followed by piling into a pub or cafe where a roaring log fire is burning, and tucking into frothy hot chocolate with marshmallows is an experience not to be missed!
There’s a wonderful choice of Circular Walks on and around Dartmoor. Try walking the dogs in the woods at Bellever Forest or enjoy a cycle ride along the trails all over Dartmoor. NT Parke in Bovey Tracey has some beautiful woodland and riverside walks, with a café on site too.
Exploring Dartmoor on horseback in the quieter winter months is an experience that will awaken every sense you have, there are wild ponies roaming free all over the moor, and this is an exceptional way to see them!
