The city is home to world-class events

We have the history, the food and the activities, let’s not forget about the exciting events that take place across the city each year.

In previous years, Powderham Castle has hosted a number of world-class names including Little Mix, Olly Murs and the highly-anticipated Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2016. In summer 2022, the incredible grounds will welcome Michael Bublé to the stage.

Our city is home to some of the biggest events in the county, with the local-favourite Devon County Show returning to Westpoint Arena 2nd-4th July 2021, the new adventure-filled Nature Valley Gone Wild Festival kicking off at Powderham Castle between 26th-29th August 2021 and the retro Let’s Rock Exeter Festival returning to the castle on 11th September.

Sport fanatics will not be disappointed when they visit Exeter, as our resident teams Exeter Chiefs and Exeter City Football Club participate in regular matches, which have just welcomed back fans to support and cheer in person. Not to mention visitors will be able to experience the fun at Exeter Racecourse, with regular race days and family events!

You can reach Dartmoor in 40 minutes

Our central location in Devon means that we’re in easy reach of fantastic attractions and natural beauty spots that the region has to offer.

From Exeter, it takes approximately 40 minutes to drive to the closest part of Dartmoor. This gorgeous National Park is home to some pretty spectacular sights including magnificent tors, secluded villages, ancient woodland and of the course the famous Dartmoor ponies. Not the mention the land is packed with intriguing history, heritage and folklore – there isn’t a day out like Dartmoor!
